Xena - independent spirit with a tender heart
Xena has come to us through difficult circumstances - her devoted grandad had to move into hospice care, leaving this 4-year-old black and white beauty in need of a new home. Despite the upheaval in her life, including recently raising four kittens of her own, Xena has maintained her friendly and resilient nature.
This lovely girl knows what she likes - she'll happily greet you and enjoy your company, but she's not one for excessive handling or being picked up constantly. Xena values her personal space and independence, making her the perfect companion for those who appreciate a cat that's affectionate on her own terms. She's had experience as a mother and has shown herself to be calm and tolerant around children of all ages.
Having enjoyed outdoor access in her previous home, Xena would benefit from a home where she can safely explore outside, away from busy roads. She's adaptable enough for indoor living if her new family prefers, as long as she has plenty of environmental enrichment to satisfy her curious nature. While she's comfortable with children, she draws a clear boundary when it comes to dogs - a cat-only or dog-free household is essential for her peace of mind.
Xena is ideal for a family who understands that the best feline friendships are built on mutual respect. She'll be a loyal, steady presence in your home - friendly and engaging, but always refreshingly honest about her boundaries.

Step Two
Home Check
After this, we will arrange an appointment with you to pick up your new friend, as well as the required food and litter which is available to purchase at our on-site shop.
Rehoming
From the initial appointment to collection usually takes between 7-10 days. When you come to collect your new cat(s), you will just need to sign the relevant paperwork, as well as paying the donation fee via our website. Prior to release all cats will have the necessary vaccinations and medical treatments - all signed off by our vet.
Step Three
Rehoming Rules
- We will not rehome an adult cat into a home where there are existing adult cats.
- We ensure that no cat or kitten is released to its new home until 48 hours after its vaccination.
- If there are other pets in the household i.e. dogs, we will normally recommend a kitten unless we have an adult cat who is used to living with dogs. Dogs are able to come to the Sanctuary to be introduced to the cat.
- All existing cats in any household must be neutered.
- All cats and kittens that leave Woodlands Animal Sanctuary must leave with the food and litter that they are currently using here, this can be purchased from our onsite shop.
