Animals like Merlin who came to us in 2012, saving him from inevitable slaughter. Merlin now spends his days happily grazing with our other equines, and is often the star attraction at our community events. Merlin represents just one success story among the hundred or more recues that we have on site at any given time.

Every day at Woodlands brings essential expenses that never pause - from specialist veterinary care to feeding, heating, and shelter for over 100 diverse residents and rescues.

The rising cost of living has hit us from both sides: more animals are being abandoned as owners struggle financially, while donations decline. Meanwhile, the cost of animal feed, bedding, medications, and veterinary care continues to climb.

As a younger charity, we don't yet have the established legacy income that many larger charity organisations have in order for us to plan rescue volumes and care capacity securely and with confidence. Instead, relying on adhoc donations and week to week planning.
