About the Community Hub

With two retail hubs operating in Chorley and Skelmersdale we offer fairly priced clothing, furniture, books, toys and vintage goods for sale with all funds raised going directly to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of vulnerable and neglected animals throughout Lancashire and Merseyside. 

Donations are welcome from Wednesday - Sunday between 10am-2pm.

Get involved in supporting the rescue and rehabilitation of animals by volunteering at the Hub. We have a wide variety of roles available including:

• Front of shop retail assistants.
• Merchandise sorting and pricing.
• Merchandise display & arrangement.
• Librarian.
• Drivers for collections and deliveries.

Through volunteering you will not only directly be contributing towards improving the lives of vulnerable animals but you'll also get to meet new people, develop skills, and improve your mental health and wellbeing. Learn more about volunteering opportunities.

Our Skelmersdale hub hosts regular workshops where people can spend time crafting, learning new skills, and meeting new people - helping to create products to go on sale at the hub and help raise money for animal rescue and rehabilitation.

Crochet – Wednesday mornings  

• Sessions where attendees will be crocheting items that can then be sold in the shop 

• Socialise with people who share the same hobby 
  
  
• Snacks and tea & coffee provided 
  
  
• For beginners and seasoned crocheters.

Candle Decorating Club – Wednesday afternoons  

• Learn how to design and then decorate your own candles.

• Make some unique candle creations to go on sale in our hub store.

Knit, Knatter & Knibbles – Friday mornings  

• Sessions where attendees will be knitting items that can then be sold in the shop 

• Socialise with people who share the same hobby 
• Snacks and tea & coffee provided

At Woodlands we are fully commited to providing social prescribing opportunities to aid mental health within the community.

The NHS describe social prescribing as a "key component of Universal Personalised Care. It is an approach that connects people to activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing".

At both the Sanctuary and our Hubs we provide a range of activities that help to give people structure, overcome loneliness, tackle anxiety, and build inner confidence through becoming a key component in improving the welfare, and delivering positive outcomes for our rescue animals.

One of our core missions is to educate and provide support and advice to the general public in the care of domestic and wild animals.

As part of this commitment we provide opportunities to meet some of our sanctuary animals at our hubs; Providing opportunities to learn about their story of recovery & rehabilitation, how to best care for them and what preventative action we can take to reduce rescue volumes.
