Milo & Millie

Milo and Minnie
Born: May 2010 | Arrived: March 2011
Abandoned to an uncertain fate before they came through the Woodlands gate. They arrived together in March 2011, barely a year old. Two piebald foals, brother and sister, nobody wanted. We took one look at the pair of them and knew Woodlands would be their home. Whatever they needed, however long it took – we'd give them the life they deserved and a place where they could simply be horses.
Fourteen years on, Milo and Minnie spend their days doing exactly what happy horses should: strolling, grazing, galloping, nibbling, playing. Everything comes naturally to them now. They've got neighbouring stables for the colder months and overnight, but even then, Milo's usually got his nose poking over to check what his sister's up to.
Milo's the nosey one. First to investigate anything new, whether it's a visiting volunteer or a suspicious patch of grass. He can be a bit spooky – will jump at his own shadow some days – but he's as soft as anything really.
Minnie's the steady one. Quiet, gentle, happy to let her brother do the investigating while she observes from a safe distance. She's got a particular fondness for the men on our team, though she's perfectly lovely with everyone. They balance each other out, these two.
Between them, they need farrier visits every few weeks, regular dental work, vet checks, vaccinations, worming, salt licks, endless hay and straw, and stables that don't fall down around their ears. It adds up, keeping two horses comfortable and healthy for life.
But they've been here since they were foals. This is their home. And they're staying together, with their fellow equine friends exactly where they belong.
