Opal
Opal was probable one of the more miraculous rescue stories of the year. She was a stray being fed by a kind lady, who one day decided to follow Opal. There she discovered Opal and two very malnourished kittens living in a drainage ditch. Opal and one of the kittens were rescued but the second kitten ran off. We all thought the worst but persistence paid off and a few days later the lady found the kitten back by the ditch, meaning all three were soon reunited back at Woodlands.
After a period of rehabilitation all three were ready for their new lives, and it was fitting that Opal returned to live with the lady who found her. However she'd never make a lap cat so now lives a semi domesticated life - but as the saying goes 'the owner doesn't find the cat, the cat finds the owner':
"She is doing well, mainly living with my neighbour across from me, but between my neighbour and myself we are looking after her. She calls over occasionally to say hello. She is looking really well and happy. It also makes me very happy to see her looking healthy and bright eyed considering how ill she was when I found her. She is now a beautiful contented cat ?"
