At Woodlands Animal Sanctuary we have been rehoming unwanted or neglected animals since 2005!

Due to the outbreak of the Novel Corona Virus, the Sanctuary is currently closed.  However, due to new DEFRA guidelines, we are rehoming cats and guinea pigs using a new, minimal contact process.  You can find out more information abour this via the Rehoming during Quarantine page.  We will also be accepting emergency cat and hedgehog admissions.  Physical donations are still welcomed but will have to be left infront of the Shop.  We will be keeping everyone up to date on our Social Media accounts, you can find us on FacebookTwitterInstagram and TikTok.

Since 2005, we have re-homed 1000’s of animals. We specialise in the rehoming of cats, kittens and guinea pigs and the rehabilitation of a variety of animals from hedgehogs to horses.

Our Rehoming Process

At Woodlands Animal Sanctuary we understand the importance of placing our animals in the right forever home. That’s why we ensure that all applicants go through the same three-stage process. This helps us to ensure not only the animals safety, but that you and your new friend are the perfect match.

Our rehoming process begins with a call to the sanctuary to make a timed appointment, which can be between 14:00 - 16:00 weekdays or during an open veiwing between 13:30 - 15:30 weekends.  You will then be able visit and meet your prospective new pet. Once you have chosen your new pet you will be asked to fill in an application form and leave a donation deposit via cash or cheque

If your application is approved, one of our Home Check Volunteers will arrange a home visit to ensure your home is a suitable environment for the pet you have chosen.  This can take up two weeks, but happens usually within days

When your home visit has been approved and your application has been checked by a trustee you can contact the sanctuary to make an appointment to collect your new pet.

Areas that we Cover

Our Home Check Volunteers cover from the Sanctuary to Wigan, Skelmersdale, Southport, North Liverpool, and Preston
