George

Leopard tortoise, 15 years old, 5kg

George was handed in a few years back when his previous owners decided a century-long commitment wasn't quite what they'd signed up for.

These days, he's appointed himself chief inspector of the cattery. The cats aren't entirely sure what to make of their plodding, shell-clad supervisor, but George seems rather pleased with himself. When he's not on patrol, you'll find him wedged into a corner somewhere, head tucked in, dead to the world having a kip.

Outside of patrolling and snoozing he has a large terrarium with a basking lamp that gives him the vitamins and warmth he needs.

At 15 years old, he's barely started. Leopard tortoises can live to 100, which means George has roughly 85 years of corner-napping and cat-bothering ahead of him.
