Hi everyone, my name is Sassy and I have been at Woodlands for 5 months!  I believe the hoomans have taken the liberty of writing about myself and my fellow mums who I am living with at the moment. They have done this without even asking us! But, I may let it go this time as I’ve been told they did it to try to find us our own hoomans to go & live with.  It’s also been suggested to me that they will even vet the new hoomans to check that they will look after us nicely and not abandon us again….that just seems like a fairy tale though.

An anonymous job description was once written for being a mum and although a lot of people applied & turned up for the interview; it will give you more job satisfaction than you have ever had before, no one wanted the job when the hours 24/7 & the pay £0 were given.  However, so many of us choose to become a mum/parents and accept and even embrace the highs and lows this amazing life changing decision gives us.  However, a lot of our pets do not get to ‘choose’ when or even if they want to become a mum.

Woodlands have an anniversary this week, but the team do not feel like celebrating.  Harry, a beautifully handsome cat will have been living at the sanctuary for a full year, as despite his best efforts he has been overlooked by every single person who has fostered a cat from Woodlands in the last 12 months.

The team at Woodlands have had a first this week with caring for a pig!  Woodlands Animal Sanctuary have not taken pigs before and have only done so on this occasion as a one off.

Louise and the team at Headlines Hair Tarleton participated in an annual event created by Schwarzkopf which runs for 100 lucky salons throughout the uk and Ireland.  This event raises money for charity which each salon chooses for themselves.  The team at Tarleton very kindly opted to help Woodlands!  Louise, the salon team leader said “Myself and the team at Headlines Hair Tarleton not only use the event to thank our lovely customers for their continued loyalty and support but to also raise money and awareness for a charity.  Woodlands Animal Sanctuary was our chosen charity this year not only because we are all huge animal lovers but because we like to try support our local charities within our close community and surrounding villages.”

If you are a follower of us you may be aware that we had to cancel our second open day of the year due to the great British Weather!  This decision was most disappointing for us as a charity, because we have rearranged our events calendar to reduce the risk of cancellations due to adverse weather complications.

As you may know, we have hosted various onsite fundraising events to raise much needed money, that goes directly to the running costs of the charity, which, with over 300 animals to care for 365 days a year and our skilled team to do that can seem an insurmountable task.  One of these annual events has been the big Family Fun Day, which has always run on the first weekend of September.   This year, however, we are not running this ‘big’ open day, we are simply running three themed summer open days.

Hello, I'm Dolly and I am around 7 years young!  I've been at Woodlands since the 19th March after my previous owner had a baby and it all got a little bit overwhelming for her!  But that's okay because the nice staff and volunteers here take really good care of us!  I've been told that I should find a new home, but I'm really shy!  So I really hope the right person or family, who understand my shy nature, come around and take me home!
